Engineering News-Record (ENR) announced the winners of its 2016 National “Best of the Best” Projects and Metcon|TA Loving won “Best Project” in the (K-12 Education) category for the two new “Energy Positive” middle schools in Goldsboro, NC.  The awards honor the best construction projects in the nation which are judged using five criteria: safety, innovation, teamwork, quality and functionality.

The project teams will be honored at the Award of Excellence gala dinner at the New York Hilton Midtown on April 13, and award plaques will be presented to the project teams at a breakfast ceremony on April 14.  This is Metcon’s 2nd time in four years along with SFL+A Architects to have receved this prestigious award. Sandy Grove Middle School also won the ENR “Best of the Best” award in 2013.  Look for more in depth information as an article will be published on March 3, 2017 in the ENR magazine.

Metcon|TA Loving a Joint Venture was selected as the Construction Manager at Risk for the  simultaneous delivery of the two energy positive middle schools for Wayne County Public Schools.  Grantham and Spring Creek Middle schools are the 2nd and 3rd energy positive schools delivered in the Carolinas. The projects were delivered as a program for Wayne County schools, and were only viable for the County due to the cost savings associated with the program delivery.  The schools consist of world class energy positive features that will allow them to generate more energy than they consume.  Both schools were completed in August 2015.
