Metcon’s Sandy Grove Middle School Project Named National ENR Best of the Best

Carbone_SFLA_NCS_3.jpgEngineering News & Record has honored Metcon’s Sandy Grove Middle School project as Best of the Best in the K-12 category.  Sandy Grove Middle School was chosen amongst all K-12 education projects submitted for consideration in the United States completed between July 2012 and June 2013.

The process began in May 2012 with entree solicitations sent  to the construction industry.  Seven hundred project teams submitted entry packages in the regional “Best Projects” competition.  A panel of judges was selected in 10 regions to select the regional winners in 19 categories.  Sandy Grove Middle School was chosen as a regional winner for the best K-12 project.  SGMS automatically moved up to the national competition level.  A brand new set of judges from across the country and from all walks of the industry examined each project in an effort to distinguish the best from the best in terms of teamwork, safety, overcoming challenges, innovation and quality.  SGMS was then chosen as the “Best of the Best” nationally in the K-12 category.

Sandy Grove Middle School along with all the other national winners will be featured in the ENR issue on February 17, 2014.  The Feb. 17th  issue will also announce one project from all winners to be considered “Editor’s Choice.”    To learn more about ENR, visit their website at
