New Building Materials Make Impossible Project Possible

Special Feature

On Oct 28, 2010, Metcon hosted the "Topping Out" Ceremony for the UNC Pembroke Student's Cypress Hall project. While topping out ceremonies are a long standing tradition in the construction industry, this one was unique.

The Difference

Metcon had completed the structural construction of the dormitory using the Worthington Integrated Building System, or WIBS panels. This is a first for North Carolina to have a building completely founded on this system.

The Result?

By identifying and selecting such a unique construction method, Metcon was able to complete what would have been otherwise impossible. To go from ground breaking to topping out in less than 5 months! The building will complete construction in just over a year total!

To say the folks at UNC Pembroke were pleased would be an understatement. This is just another reason we say, there is a difference.
