Metcon’s leadership in the Minority and HUB Community has been recognized on the state level as a recipient of NC State Construction’s Award for HUB Advocacy and Leadership. Metcon has also been named National Minority Contractor of the Year in both 2011 and 2013. Our goal is to strengthen and bring forth the next generation of minority companies so they can be successful and grow.

On October 19, 2022, Metcon, Inc. was honored today at the NC Statewide Minority Economic Development Luncheon with the Andrea Harris MBE Award in recognition of our Outstanding Achievements in Business Across NC, presented by the NC Department of Administration’s Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses.  This award has such special meaning throughout our minority business community.  The late Andrea Harris was a trail blazer and a hero for women and minorities throughout her career.  Her leadership helped forge a path for minority and HUB businesses across the state and shape our state policies for minority inclusion and economic growth.  She touched so many individuals with the way she lived and embodied her commitment to Economic Development for all minorities in NC.

Today, we are incredibly blessed. We have grown into the largest minority contractor in NC and have so much to credit with the guidance and leadership of Andrea Harris who has made so much possible for our minority businesses and leaders in our state.  We remain true to our roots and our commitment to growing the next generation of minority builders.

Our Results

1

Creating opportunities for minority and historically underutilized businesses begin with an inclusive process that relies on deep roots we have established within the minority community for over 20 years. It is this network of trust and advocacy that provides outreach and engagement of business owners throughout the Carolinas. The end-result for our clients is establishing a stronger community, increased local employment and meaningful construction workforce development.  Our average minority participation rate for all of our projects, both public and private, is 42
