University of North Carolina at Pembroke American Indian Museum
Location – Pembroke, NC
Established through federal grants in 2020, the American Indian Heritage Center at UNC Pembroke provides programming open to all faculty, staff and students to learn more about the rich culture of Native people across our region and state.
UNC Pembroke is only the second institution in the state to establish a center to support American Indian students.
Metcon successfully provided major renovations resulting in office space, a conference room, and a study room.
Curt and Catherine Locklear, the grandparents of Aaron Thomas donated to have the center named in their honor. They have ties to the university that span for eight decades.
