Metcon Celebrates New Kings Mountain Office Ribbon Cutting

The new office location spurred by the new Catawba Two Kings Casino has grounded Metcon Buildings and Infrastructure to the growing city. Metcon is a Native American-owned (Lumbee) construction firm founded in 2000 in Pembroke, North Carolina by Aaron Thomas, President & CEO. As NC’s largest minority owned construction firm, we have grown from humble beginnings serving eastern NC to a trusted and capable provider of construction services. Today, we have 3 building divisions including: Pembroke,[Headquarters] Raleigh, and Charlotte and regional offices in Greensboro, Fayetteville, and now Kings Mountain. Metcon’s Infrastructure Division focuses on wastewater treatment facilities & underground utilities in NC. Metcon, which stands for (Metal and Construction), was conceived as a General Contractor specializing in panelized metal studs and truss. It was the Capital Bond Program for the UNC System which actually kickstarted the construction company in 2000. UNC Pembroke, the hometown university, played a key role for Metcon as a general contractor which in turn led to many opportunities with the UNC System.
In Cleveland County alone, Metcon is delivering over $1Billion in construction projects currently under contract to include the Catawba Two Kings Casino and Resort [JV with Yates Construction], Catawba Green Earth Housing Project, Cleveland County Justice Center [JV with Yates Construction] and Kings Mountain Pilots Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion.

Today, Metcon specializes in Local & State Government, Commercial, Utilities and Operations Centers, Infrastructure, Education [PK-12 & Higher Ed], Judicial & Public Safety, Airport, Hospitality, Sports and Entertainment, Mixed Use Housing, as well as Healthcare across the Carolinas. They have grown to 165 employees and completed $339 in revenue in 2024 and 2025 is shaping up to be even better.
